More Club Titles

by admin on June 1, 2016

Another collection of club events have been decided over the past few weeks.  At City, Rob Kelly and David Hill successfully defended their 2015 club pairs title by defeating Tony Barry and Alan Taylor.
At Canberra, Breeze Howard and Manny Brookman took the pairs title after a win over John McDonald and David Kimber.
At Tuggeranong, the novice singles title was won by Phil Hensen defeating Ian Donnelly.
At Weston Creek, the men’s triples champions for 2016 are Doug Farr, Will Penny and Mike Bielski after defeating Phil Crowe, Michael McQueen and Andrew Ashlin in the final.
On the Women’s side of the fence, Sharon Harmer became the Singles Champions (again!) after defeating Kathy McDonald but couldnt continue her winning form in the fours:  her team of Kim Cook, Kathy McDonald, Margaret Bacchetto going down to Maureen Wilkie, Sharon Steele, Jess Hogan (subbing for Kristen Steele) & Melda Fowler.
Over at QRSLM, friendships were put to the test when Peter Daly and David Thomas vied for singles honours, David taking the match with some top class bowls.
In the Power Play Triples at Weston Creek, two teams tied for first place – congratulations to Chris Grebert, Nathan Savino and Leeanne Birch from QRSLM and Spud Scott, Barry Bush and Beau Dunley from Yass.
Over at Belconnen, in their Autumn Triples carnival the winners were Canberra players Mark Dulihanty, Shane Murton and Glenn Freebody who managed to repeat last year’s win.
Remember to let us know what’s happening at your club! If we don’t know about it, we cant report it!
