ACT vs Zone 8

by admin on August 15, 2016

The weekend of 13 -14 August saw the ACT take on Zone 8 for a two match ‘friendly’.  Following the demise of the annual “Four Rivers and Four Creeks” tournament, Zone 8 and ACT fielded just 4 open rinks (ie no juniors and no 60+ sides).  This was the first outing under new representative team coach Adam Jeffery and the team was significantly altered from previous years.  It included a father and son combination of David and Brad Thomas, and ACT debutantes Hemi Palmer, and Mark Ebsworth, as well as a few faces making a return to representative duties.  Making it even more of a family event, Daniel Thomas was playing, representing Zone 8!
In a “dog-delayed” match, Zone 8 ran out winners by 8 shots (2 rinks apiece).  Although determined to reverse this score the following morning, ACT was not able to catch the lead set by Zone 8, eventually going down by 13 shots (2 rinks each).  Zone 8 player of the series was Bryce De Bruyn.  ACT player of the series was Robert Craven.
