Queanbeyan Strikes Again!

This time it was the highly coveted “Doran Bowl” trophy that wings its way across the border after the ladies from QRSLM claimed victory in this event at Canberra North.  The QRSLM team of Di Marquet, Kelli Cartledge, Tracey Markovic and Michelle Savino won both their matches, as did several other teams, but were well ahead on shots differences.  Runners up were Tuggeranong Red-  Marilyn McInnes, Nicole Donnelly, Robin Brosnan, Fay Donnelly.
Ten teams of four players – each of whom has been a bowling member for 5 years or less – competed for the Trophy, playing two matches of 15 ends, split by a luncheon provided by hosts (and last year’s winners) Canberra North. The Doran Bowl, in one form or another has been played in the ACT since the 1950’s and is possibly the most highly regarded award in the women’s ranks.
Congratulations and thanks to Canberra North for hosting the event, and to John Howard for his umpiring expertise!
