Senior Territory Shield Returns to the ACT
The ACT Senior Sides teams have had a good start to the National Senior Sides being held in South Australia this week. On day one, the women went down to the star studded team from NSW by a mere 7 shots, with Jenny Clout drawing her rink and Loretta Gillespie going down by only one shot; whereas the men continued to be NSW’s Achilles heal, defeating them 71 – 60, thanks to a huge rink win by Brookman over Lambourne. Taylor drew his rink and Deeves went down 19-26.
In match 2, playing for the Territory Shield, the women lead the way from the get go and finished the match with wins on all three rinks 63-42. In the men’s match, things were a bit tougher but a masterboard draw (48 all, 2-1) saw the trophy returned to the ACT.
