Junior Champions

by Bowls ACT on July 24, 2019

The ACT Junior Championships were played last week at Yowani BC and one young chap has dominated events. QRSLMs Brock Edwards has taken home the trifecta of Singles, Pairs and Triples Championships.

In the Singles, Brock defeated Yass youngster Andrew MacFarlane fairly convincingly, 25-5. (See below for full results)

In the Pairs, Brock teamed with Sean Donnelly from Tuggeranong to defeat ‘brand-new-player-but-clearly-with-bowls-in-his-blood’ Aidyn Mcgready (Belconnen) and ‘it’s-only been-a-few-weeks-since-his-a-knee-reconstruction’ Harvey McAlister (Queanbeyan) 21-6.

In the Triples, Liam Walsh (QRSLM) joined Andrew and Brock to defeat Goulburn’s Logan Watts, Sean Donnelly and Yass’s Pat McFarlane 17-8.

Joint coaches Denise Rutherford and Patrick Robertson reported that the junior competitors showed outstanding bowling skills, but equally important, conducted themselves as genuine ambassadors for the spirit of bowls in victory and defeat.

Bowls ACT thanks the Yowani Club and its volunteers for their assistance in conducting the championships.
