C of CC Singles Winners
Two ACT players are off to South Perth in October to represent their clubs at the National Champion of Club Champions.
Chloe Morrison (Tuggeranong) and Robert Craven (QRSLM) were crowned ACT champions after winning their respective events this weekend at Yass.
Chloe won the right to compete at the National event when she defeated Canberra North’s Deb McGown 25-19 in the final of the two day event. In a match that had spectators impressed with the quality of both bowlers, nonetheless the result looked like a done deal after 21 ends when the score was 24-12 in Chloe’s favour. However, that was to be Chloe’s last scoring end for the next 7 ends whilst Deb whittled away at the deficit. Chloe finally delivered her winning shot, relegating Deb to runner up status for the second year in a row. For Chloe, this will be her second shot at the National title, having played in the national event in Darwin in 2017.
Robert Craven defeated Queanbeyan player Jason Johnson in another fabulous match to watch. With the Yass greens performing beautifully, the end score of 25-14 probably doesn’t reflect just how even the players were, Robert only having 3 more winning ends than Jason. All credit to Robert though, as he showed finesse when it mattered.
Keep you eyes and ears open for news of the live coverage of the National event. Both are sure to get featured and I’m sure will have the whole of the ACT cheering them on!
