Bowls ACT partners with Bowlo Draught makers to help drive bowls participation

Bowls ACT has struck up a partnership with Bowlo Sports and Leisure, the team behind independent beer brand Bowlo Draught, to work together on a program to increase bowls participation across the ACT and surrounding region. In coming together Bowls ACT and Bowlo share a vision for the future of Bowls to give more people access to the sport than ever before.

In announcing the partnership Ciaran O’Rourke, Executive Officer Bowls ACT, had this to say: “We’re extremely excited to be partnering with Alex and Matty from Bowlo in what will be a fantastic initiative to further the image of the sport across the region. In putting our heads together we’ve found a shared philosophy for the sport, and we share a vision of where we want Bowls to go. We want growth in the sport built on the back of strong bowling clubs throughout the region and we couldn’t have found someone who was more aligned with that vision than what we’ve found with Bowlo Sports and Leisure.”

Alex Light and Matty Graham of Bowlo Sports and Leisure are passionate bowlers themselves and members of Sydney’s Bondi Bowling Club. The pair has been recently working with Bowls NSW and their own local clubs to enhance the image of the sport throughout the State, and in partnering with Bowls ACT, Bowlo is looking to extend their reach through the ACT and NSW with participation front of mind.

“Our company is about helping create excitement around bowls and getting communities engaged in the clubs that support our great sport first and foremost, which is why giving back to clubs and bodies like Bowls ACT is so important to us”, says Matty Graham, Director and Co-Founder of Bowlo Sports & Leisure. Matty’s business partner and Bowlo Co-Founder Alex Light explains: “We want adults of all ages and abilities to enjoy the challenge and mateship that Bowls offers, and there’s nothing better than shouting your opponent a cold one afterwards – win, lose or draw.”

The partnership will include co-developed marketing and communications to increase the awareness and uptake of bowls throughout the ACT region and will be rolling out across the remainder of 2022.

Bowlo Draught is currently being sold at a number of Bowling Clubs in the ACT, including Belconnen, Canberra Bowling Club, and Queanbeyan RSL. For more information about stocking Bowlo Draught, contact Bowlo Sports & Leisure via email at gday@lawnsideleisure.com
