Greenline Invitational Singles – Day 1 Wrap

Canberra Bowling Club host a fantastic first day of action!

The 2023 Greenline Invitational Singles are down to the final four players with a stack of cracking games through the sectional play on day 1.

Section 1 saw last years runner-up Garry Charker make his way through relatively untroubled claiming three wins and a massive +45 margin with wins over Pathway Jackaroo Flynn O’Shaugnessy as well as Viking Glenn Morton & Canberra Norths Sharon Blandy.

Section 2 came down to the final game with Belconnens Matt Sargeant and Weston Creeks Jess Hogan both undefeated through their first two games meeting in the third round where Jess Hogan sprung the first major upset of the tournament knocking off ‘Sarge’ in a thriller 25/23. Hogan will play Garry Charker in the first semi-final which will be Live-Streamed from around 9am.

In section 3 it was young gun Harvey McAlister through to the finals, winning all three games with a +42 margin to progress with wins over James Smith, Di Marquet & Chloe Morrison.

Section 4 also came down to the final game with Jenny Clout (Vikings) and Doug Farr (Weston Creek) both two game winners. The final round saw the top two go head-to-head with 2022 semi-finalist Farr prevailing 25/15 to progress to the knockout rounds and a match-up with Harvey McAlister.
