by Bowls ACT on April 5, 2024

Bowls ACT are excited to see so many players from the next generation take to the greens!!

With nominations more than doubling the 2024 ACT Junior Carnival will be one to watch as Yass Bowling Club plays host to the Capital Junior Pairs Tournament and ACT Junior Singles Championship on April 18th and 19th.

With the strong growth in junior numbers across the region this is a great opportunity for our sports future champions to meet and compete! Bowls Australia pathways coach James Reynolds will be in attendance to assess the talent and provide mentorship to the players, as Bowls ACT look toward the representative season with the NSW Junior 7-a-Side in Dubbo during August and The Nationals at Club Tweed in October.

Capital Junior Pairs:

With strong nominations Bowls ACT have allocated the teams into two grades based upon experience with the current representative players competing in A-Grade and our newer junior members competing for a B-Grade title. This will ensure each team will play three games against opponents of comparable ability with the winners in each grade to be based on the following criteria;

  1. Points (2 Points per win – 1 point draw – 0 points loss)
  2. Score difference (Margin)
  3. Score percentage (Shots for divided by shots against)
  4. In the event teams are tied for first place a three end playoff will be held

ACT Junior Singles

The competition has grown from eight to twenty competitors in 2024 which has resulted in play having to return to a knockout format, however all eliminated players will be placed into a secondary bracket to gain match experience against similarly skilled opponents.
