2024 Greenline Invitational Singles – Field Reveal Part Two
Greenline & Bowls ACT are proud to partner with Queanbeyan Bowls Club for the 2024 Event
With the 2024 Greenline Invitational Singles just over a week away Bowls ACT are bringing you the second of two parts revealing the field for the richest singles event in the capital region.
Section 3
Flynn O’Shaughnessy returns to the invitational singles with something to prove! The Pathways Jackaroo has been in fine touch with an appearance in the Australian Open Pairs Final with Nathan Rice a career highlight which might just be topped by being crowned Invitational Singles Champion in 2024!
Queanbeyan Stinger Harvey McAlister is the second Pathways Jackaroo in this section and will be ready to go one better than last year where he was chased down by eventual runner-up Doug Farr. Harvey’s game has gone to another level since then so look out for him to go one better!
ACT Junior Singles Champion Toby Penyu will look to test himself in elite company. The young Yass prodigy has come a long way in a short time in the sport and will be ready to show his wares on a bigger stage.
The great Sharon Steele returns for her third run at the event and will look to add an Invitational Singles crown to her already long list of achievements in the sport! Sharon was named ACT Female Bowler of the Year in 2023 and will be ready to tackle these young bucks!
Section Four
2023 Runner-Up Doug Farr is back and will be ready to go one better in 2024. Following a semi-final and Grand Final defeat to Garry Charker the past two years in this event the Weston Creek bowler will be cheering to have found himself on the other side of the draw! Will they meet in another final and can Dougy go one better in 2024?!
Local legend and world champion James Reynolds enters as the wild-card in the 2024 Invitational Singles. ‘Jimmy’ has done so much for bowls in the region and the current Para-Jackaroo will be out to add to one of the most impressive resumes in the sport!
Cherrie Climas earns her spot as 2023 Womens Rookie Singles Champion. The QRSL member is one who has swiftly climbed the ranks in the sport having been selected to represent as a member of the ACT open womens squad in 2024 and will be ready to show off her wares against the regions best.
Queanbeyan RSLs Ruth Moore rounds out the section as a mightily accomplished player with vast experience and a bulging trophy cabinet. There is not much in the sport that Ruth has yet to achieve so look out for the back-to-back ACT Mixed Pairs champion to mix it with the best here!
