In the lead-up to The Nationals, Bowls ACT will be taking a look at our representative players, with thanks to representative partners Westcoast Bowls!
Over 60 Women
New opportunities and plenty of experience are the headlines for the Womens Over 60s squad in 2024 with some familiar names including Jenny Clout, Di Marquet and Catherine Hunt who have all been there and won that, most recently with Di a member of the bronze medal winning pairs duo at the 2023 Australian Championships!
Players like Gina Dowley & Kathy Elliot will be ready to show their wares at this level with both coming off outstanding campaigns locally while Mandy Stitt steps into a skips role after winning back-to-back ACT Triples titles in 2023 and 2024.
Bowls ACT members will be cheering this group on loud and proud and look forward to this group giving the bigger states a real fright!
Over 60s Men
There wouldn’t be a trophy cabinet big enough for the combined titles from this playing group! Hugely experienced and highly credentialled this squad will have set themselves some high standards for the 2024 campaign.
Garry Charker, ‘Benny’ Hill and Andrew Ashlin will take the reins for these teams with Darren Walsh the only debutant in 2024 while Dave Cave makes a return to the rep scene following a sterling 2024 and current ACT Singles Champion of Champion Hayden Ward will be primed for a big campaign.
This looks a team that can give the competition a good shake with consistent performances key on the predicted quick Tweed Heads greens!
