The annual ACT vs Newcastle hit out took place in mid January with the Newcastle teams bringing four rinks each of their best men and women to compete against the ACT at Weston Creek.
The ACT women were delighted to again win the coveted shield after posting a 2-1 victory.  The Women won their first match easily (105-46) but after Newcastle shuffled their teams, went on to lose their second match (67-84) – a staggering 76 shot turn around!  In the third and deciding match, the ACT got up by 30 shots to win 89-59 despite sharing the rink honours.
The ACT men had a tougher time of it going down in all three matches.  Mac McLean was the only winning ACT skip, winning 2 of his 3 games.  David Thomas was unlucky not to win his last game, ending the event with a 22 all draw.
