QRSLM Dominates in the Men’s State Pairs

As one spectator was heard to comment:  “This was one of the best pairs games I have ever had the pleasure to watch. Outstanding bowling skills and tactics displayed by both teams to make a very interesting and competitive game.” So sums up the 2016 Men’s Pairs Final played between two QRSLM teams with Hemi Palmer/Brad Thomas ending up winners over David Thomas/Adam Jeffery by one shot.  Players demonstrated a great range of very accurate and effective bowls, displaying skills in all shots (drives, ditch weighted, on shots, draws etc).
Semi finals were also of very high standard with many effective bowls and tight heads– all tremendous games to watch.  Both QRSLM teams had to defeat Weston Creek teams  – Palmer/Thomas having to go to a tie-breaker to defeat the Michael Bielski/Andrew Ashlin team, whereas Thomas/Jeffery overcame a 10 all deadlock at the 11th end to come out winners 25-10 over Garry Charker and Ian Whybrow.
Conditions were great at QRSLM with the green running well and consistently.  Brad’s last bowl on the last end was stayed with some of the bowl hanging over the ditch – showing how good the ditch edges were!  Congratulations and thanks to QRSLM for yet another great event!
Meanwhile, over at Tuggeranong, the Women’s Pairs were underway with the semi-finalists being decided.  Sue Lalor/Lexie Webster (City) will take on Lois Waters/Mina Bannerman (Canberra) in one semi and Ruth Moore/Loretta Gillespie (City) will take on Queanbeyan pair Maggie Johnston/Lorraine Donney.  These matches will be played at QRSLM on Saturday 29 October.
