Inter-Schools Challenge

Bowls ACT are pleased to work alongside Bowls NSW to offer capital region juniors the opportunity to compete in the 2023 Bowls NSW Inter-School Challenge.

This competition will be played across NSW and the ACT with winners advancing through their local school and partner bowling club to a regional play-off and then onto the State Finals.
Teams will consist of triples (boys, girls or mixed team), playing matches comprising 2 bowls per player over two 5-end sets with a sudden death play-off end if sets are equal or tied.
Players must attend the same High School (years 7-12). Students must be aged 17 years or under as of the 31 December 2023. At least two students per team must be a non-affiliated player (not a playing member of a bowling club). An exception will be granted if any of the non-affiliated team members joins a bowling club during the competition.
High Schools and Bowling Clubs are encouraged to align together to host an intra-school play-off which will then proceed to a regional play-off. One winner from each region will then advance to the State Finals.
It is recommended for clubs/schools to organise a coaching program for interested students prior to the competition, followed by the number of weeks needed to conduct a competition to gain a club/school representative team to advance to the regional play-off.
Bowls NSW and Bowls ACT together with Bowls Australia Regional Bowls Managers (RBM’s) will be available to assist clubs and schools with coordinating their local competitions and regional play-offs.
