Fours Revenge!

by admin on October 14, 2017

The final of the ACT men’s Fours was played on the artificial surface at Canberra this past weekend.  This time, the lads from Weston Creek triumphed over the team from Queanbeyan (in a reverse of fortunes from the previous weekend’s women’s triples result).  The Weston Creek team of Garry, Charker, Mac McLean, Ian Whybrow and Todd Trewarne showed what a class act they are with a sound win over Queanbeyan players Gordon Kelly, Peter Rowe, Wayne Brownlie, and Jason Johnson 25-15.  Taking nothing away from the Queanbeyan team, it was just that the Creek team could do no wrong!.
On their path to the finals, the WC team defeated the highly fancied Belconnen team of Kirkland, Palmer, Jeffery and Thomas in the semi’s, whereas Queanbeyan knocked off another highly fancied team  – the Weston Creek powerhouse lads Harmer, Farr, Bielksi and Ashlin.
The win sees the the first of what many predict will be numerous ACT championships for new-to-Canberra Todd Trewarne.  The team will now compete in Merimbula in November for the title of National Triples Champions.
