Local Action Around the Clubs!
The greens were full across the region on the weekend with championship events and tournaments being played here there and everywhere.
Over at Norths, Ray McInnes and Kate Schipp took out the prestigious title of “King and Queen” for 2016 with runners up being and Noel Barnsley and Marg Mills.
At Tuggeranong, Barry Freebody took out the Mens’ Major Singles; runner-up George Gibson (who incidentally won his first Major Singles Championship in 1999/00!) Kevin Yovanitch is the 2016 Men’s Minor Singles champion after defeating Brian Smith and lastly but not at all leastly (!) the ladies Triples championship went to Val King, Lola Cross, Carmen Crossland; runners-up Liz. Naughton, Carol Zimoch, Heather Gibson.
At Yass, they held their YOLO (You Only Live Once) Triples tournament with eventual winners being Garry Penyu, Bruce Waugh and Tugg Wilson. Runners up were Breeze Howard, Manny Brookman and John McDonald.
At Weston Creek, the 2016 Men’s Singles championship was decided; Terry Mcinnes repeated his win of last year defeating Andrew Ashlin. The Men’s Pairs won by Garry Charker and Phil Crowe; defeating John Mason and Jeff Bradley.
