National Women in Bowls Working Party – Participant Survey

by Bowls ACT on August 17, 2020

BY AIDAN DAVIS

Bowls Australia (BA) is calling on the entire bowls community to complete an important survey, to provide information to help shape the creation of a National Women in Bowls strategy, with great prizes up for grabs.

BA is committed to making Bowls in Australia a more diverse and inclusive sport.

A number of national programs have recently been introduced to try and attract more participants to our network of over 1,850 clubs across Australia.

A targeted participation objective is to attract more women and girls to Bowls, as they are currently under-represented in our current membership/participation profile.

A National Working Party has been created to develop a detailed strategy with recommended priority areas for practical action, which is able to be implemented by BA and STAs in partnership with Sport Australia. The Working Party is aiming to provide a roadmap for BA to:

  • Increase representation of women involved in governance and leadership roles in Bowls in Australia;
  • Enhance accessibility, choice and pathways for women and girls to participate in sport and active recreation through bowls;
  • Identify ways to improve the sport’s accessibility for all, regardless of age, culture and ability.

The following survey has been created to gather data and evidence and provide the Working Party with information to guide the creation of a strategy to address this important area of our sport.

I urge you to complete this survey to help us make the sport of Bowls in Australia more attractive and appealing for women and girls for the future.
