Welcome to Past Presidents

by admin on April 7, 2018

Canberra will play host to the Australian Bowls Past Presidents Association’s 23rd Friendship Carnival over the next week.  Whilst the Commonwealth’s elite battle it out on the Gold Coast, past Presidents will be renewing their friendships and demonstrating their love and passion for the sport on various greens throughout the Nation’s capital. Teams from the ACT (5), NSW (1), Queensland (12), South Australia (14) and Western Australia (6) will commence the Friendship Carnival with a Welcome Dinner at the Hellenic Club on Sunday 8th of April before competitions commence son Monday the 9th. Games will be played at Belconnen, Canberra, Canberra North, Queanbeyan RSL and Tuggeranong Vikings Bowling clubs with the final games finishing up on Friday 13th.  A Presentation Dinner at the Hellenic Club will conclude the week’s activities.
President of the ACT and Australian Bowls Past President Associations, Ray McInnes welcomes Past Presidents and their partners to Canberra and hopes visitors enjoy their time in Canberra and have the opportunity to see some of our wonderful attractions whilst here.  McInnes also acknowledges the hard work of the local organising committee which consists of Kevin Antoine, Gerry Hiscox, Bill Watts, Bill Donovan, Bev Dowrick, Ian Barlow, Terry Ball and himself.
Bowls ACT would also like to express a warm welcome to all participants in the 23rd Friendship Carnival and wish you the best of luck with not only your bowls this week but also in building on the wonderful friendships made whilst here.
